WATERBURY– Mr. Mariano H. Ramos, age 88, of Waterbury passed away at his home on Saturday, April 29, 2017 surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after an extended illness. He was the husband of Alma (Melendez) Ramos

Mariano was born January 19, 1929 in Utuado, Puerto Rico the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Hernandez) Ramos and proudly served with the United States Army during the Korean War Conflict. He spent many years working at Anamet Company until his retirement, was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 13424 where he was a 4th degree member. Mariano enjoyed being a DJ and writing poetry. Besides his family one of Mariano’s biggest passions was being a Hispanic advocate, he was extremely active within the Hispanic community in Waterbury and always looked forward to the annual parades.

Besides his devoted wife Alma of 38 years Mariano is survived by his seven children and his sister Armantina Matos in addition to many other extended family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Ramos will be held on Monday May 8 at 9:30 AM from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St, Waterbury, CT 06705 to Sacred Heart Sagrado Corazon Church Wolcott Street to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM followed by burial with full military honors in Calvary Cemetery Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Mariano’s family at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1:00-3:00 PM to leave an online condolence or for additional information, kindly visit the funeral home at www.eastsidememorial.com.
