Obituary for Eva Mary Norris (Fickes)
Eva Mary Norris was born August 2, 1932, in Illinois, to Grace Permilla (Mitchell)
Fickes and Wayne Conley Fickes. She grew up in Coles Valley, Oregon, with seven brothers and three sisters, but lived in Sutherlin, Oregon for most of her life. She worked at 1st National Bank of Sutherlin for several years. On September 29, 1956, she married Donald Duane Norris in Santa Clara, California. They had 52 years together and four children.
Eva Mary Norris was called to heaven May 13, 2017, and joins her parents; her husband; her granddaughter, Amber (Larkin) Sunderberg, and her grandchild, baby Hudson Sunderberg.
She is survived by her children; Lawrence Norris, Camille (Terry) Larkin, Thomas (Janelle) Norris, Eileen (John) Miller; her brother, Miles Fickes and Lester Fickes; her sisters, Ruth (Fickes) Urben and Shirley (Fickes) Murphy; and five grandchildren.
Mary, as she was most commonly known, worked outside of the home as well as a stay at home mother. She was active in her church. She directed plays, chauffeured neighbor kids to vacation bible school and led women’s bible groups. Mary cherished her time socially and invested herself into others.
A memorial service will be held on May 25, 2017 at 2 PM at the Calapooia Free Methodist Church.
