I remember so many things...like the great Christmases and Thanksgivings and how it was a family thing getting everything ready including getting Grandma there to share with us. I remember how proud you were of Wendy's high school achievements...I wasn't so great..lol. I remember the joy you had in your heart when Wesley Rogers entered your life, you married and had a wonderful life together. But...one of the memories I have that I'm really fond of occurred sometime when Denny was around 11. Everytime I hear someone utter the word "oops," I smile with this memory. You were in the utility room with Denny giving him a haircut..I was in the kitchen. Suddenly, you said "OOPS." I hurried into the utility room to see that you had removed Denny's left sideburn, all the way up to the middle of his temple. It was all I could do to keep from laughing out loud because Denny didn't realize you were giving him a buzz haircut which is what you did to correct what you had done.
We haven't always gotten along but you were my mom. i didn't really understand how hard your life had been until I was 40. You and Wes had come to Chicago where I was living and we, the two of us, had lunch together. We had a long conversation about things and we had a recharge of our relationship. I'm truly glad you had Wes so the second half of your life was so much better.
I love you and will miss you more than I can say.
