Middlesex, NJ - Maria J. Buccellato, 60, passed peacefully away on August 29, 2017 after a long and valiant struggle with cancer.

Born in Bratislava, Slovakia, on June 23, 1957, Maria was the youngest of six children to Vincent Markovic and Maria Markovicova.

In 1987, Maria courageously escaped the iron curtain and immigrated to the United States with her daughter, Micheala. Against all odds, Maria was able to bring her son, Tomas Rozar, to join her in the U.S. in 1994.

In 1995, Maria married her soulmate, Jeffrey Buccellato. Originally a hairdresser by trade, Maria eventually joined her husband in the real estate business, earning her realtor’s license and helping Jeffrey to buy and sell homes in Middlesex Borough.

Jeffrey and Maria were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Alexis, in 1999, bringing a joy and love into their hearts that forever changed their lives. Maria reveled in spending time with her family. In 2008, Maria and Jeff built their dream home, which Maria first drew on a napkin and told everyone that she was going to have that house someday. Locally known as the “Beechwood Castle,’’ many agree it is the most beautiful home in Middlesex Borough.

During her whole life and to her last day, she always put others before herself. Maria’s selfless love lives on in her three beautiful children. She is survived by her husband Jeff, daughters Michaela and Alexis, son Tomas and wife Kori, and grandchildren Tomas, Aliyah and Lukas.
Maria will live forever in the hearts of her family and the many people whose lives she touched.

Visitation will take place in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 4-8pm and on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 9:45 am until 10:15 am.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Church, Middlesex. At the request of the family, cremation will take place privately. Memorial donations sent in Maria’s name to Overlook Hospital, 99 Beauvoir Avenue, Summit, NJ 07901 would be appreciated.
