Luveda May Hunter 75 of rural Harrison passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 20, 2017. Luveda was born November 21, 1941 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Donald Payne and Lucille May (Vader) Douglas. On September 27, 1969 in Flint, Luveda was united in marriage to Mr. Mark David Hunter.
Mrs. Hunter had resided in Harrison since 1969, coming from Flint. Mrs. Hunter had been employed with the former Northland IGA of Harrison for fifteen years and prior to her illness, Luveda worked at Steve’s Country Market, Harrison for over fourteen years. Luveda spent many years next to her husband, Mark shooting pool and bowling on several mixed doubles leagues. Mrs. Hunter found great relaxation floral gardening, grooming her flower beds, shopping, reading, solving crossword puzzles, spoiling her grandchildren and cheering her favorite NASCAR driver, Jimmie Johnson to victory.
Surviving Luveda is her husband of forty-eight years, Mr. Mark David Hunter Sr. of Harrison, her seven loving children; Deborah Smith and husband Matthew of Lake Orion, Michigan, Mark David Hunter Jr. of Prescott Valley, Arizona, James Allen Douglas and wife Antje of Denver, Colorado, Tammy Harcourt and husband Rex of Harrison, Michael Arnold Hunter and wife Connie of Harrison, Darin Scott Hunter and wife Angela of Gladstone, Michigan and Kristina Noble and husband Richard of Harrison, twenty-two grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Donna Bruce of Mount Morris, Michigan, two brothers; Jack Douglas of Flint and Don Douglas and wife Darlene also of Flint, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and her beloved cat, Chloe. Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Barbara Douglas and Betty Douglas and one brother, Clinton “Bud” Douglas.
A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Hunter will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 4:00 p.m., at Summerfield Township Hall, 9971 North Finley Lake Avenue, Leota, with Mr. Eric Echelbarger officiating. Mrs. Hunter’s family will receive family and friends from 2:00 p.m. until time of service. Memorial gifts in memory of Luveda may be considered to: Cancer Research Institute or MidMichigan Home Care.
