My Cousin

My cousin Linda was the fastest talker in the East, but she always had fascinating stuff to say.  She way overpaid for babysitting Jimmy, Joey & Kathy. She was an extremely generous person (in many ways). Sometimes, I felt guilty about taking an occasional slug of vodka. Those kids were tough. Just kidding, they were fine. I loved going to her house for Easter, the ham, the chatter, her wonderful smile. My mom, Gladys, took care of them when they were young & their moms worked & they said that the only time she ever yelled at them was when Linda climbed & fell out of the tree in our yard. And, how about the time Aunt Helen & your Aunt Gladys, got tired of you bickering on the way down to the shore & left you two by the side of the road & went around the block to pretend to leave you. Marilyn said you were both so scared. Now, those of us who are left behind still have lessons to learn. You guys are all done with that, and I'm sure you're behaving yourselves & looking down upon the rest of us with love & protection. Linda, you & Marilyn were like the big sisters I never had. And Linda, I always thought you were soooo pretty, and you were, inside & out. One other thing (that I think I told you). I was so proud of you & very impressed that you became a nurse, later in life.  I love you & I'll miss you & I know you're enjoying the peace that you deserve.
