Uncle Joe

I have many fond memories of my Uncle Joe, but a few stand out.  As a kid I liked to play the card game,  Bridge  ( I know, right?!)  When Jeane and Joe would come we would always play Bridge, and it was the only time a Bridge game would turn into a raucous party.   To an outside listener they would never guess that the laughter, fierce competition and foul language was coming from a BRIDGE GAME!

Another memory of Joe was when I would see them at my parent’s house I always brought my beagle dog, Bailey.  Every time Joe would sit down she would immediately jump in his lap.  He would be loudly  complaining about the “D*mn dog”, but meanwhile he’s gently petting her and she would be gazing lovingly at him.  She knew.  I always trust an animal’s instinct.

The last time I saw Joe was at my nephew’s wedding.  He was fun, interested in all those around him, and he and Jeane closed down the dance floor.  I can’t tell you how many people came up to me and said “Your Aunt and Uncle are great.”  I would always say “Yes they are.”

I didn’t get to see my Uncle Joe often but I can remember each and every time I did.  He was bigger than life, he still is.  To Jeane, all my cousins and family, I’m so sorry for your loss, it is huge.  Love to you all.

Love,

Nancy Moriarty Currin
