It was 1959,

You had stayed the weekend at our house in Milwaukee and had to be at Great Lakes Naval Base.  I was an E3 at the time and you and I rode back to Great Lakes on The North Shore train.  Heads turned since you were a Lt. Cmdr. and I was using your first name.  I felt really special.  When we got to the train station at Great Lakes you ordered a cab and let me ride back to my barracks with you.  It was extra special for me to see the others watching me get into the cab with you and having you drop me off at the door.   It is something I have remembered all my life.  You have always been one of my Heroes.
