Miss Jannie was my first customer when i came to statesville years ago and my first new friend here. Such a strong and special woman. I remember one day she came in my store and i was standing at the window in troubled thought because the next day my daughter was having surgery. Ive seldom known fear in my life but that day i was afraid because daddys girl was in trouble and i couldnt fix it. Miss Jannie seemed to just sense i was in trouble and came up to me and said "whats wrong big boy". I replied "oh nothing just thinking, how are u doing today". She looked me up and down and then took my hand and looked me in my eyes and said "its gonna be alright, no need to worry". Then she patted my cheek and went out the door. I needed those words right then. Its silly but she gave me strength when i needed it most. Miss Jannie always was willing to help a person any way she could. Statesville lost an angel but she is with God now. Thats where angels belong. Rest in peace Miss Jannie.
