Obituary for Marshall Muse Johnson

Marshall Muse Johnson
Marshall M. Johnson, Jr. passed away peacefully on December 29, 2017 in San Angelo, Texas.
He was born on September 7, 1927 in San Angelo, the eldest son of Marshall M. and Anise Fowler Johnson. After a reportedly rambunctious youth, he graduated from San Angelo High School and enrolled in Tarleton State College for a semester then enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in San Antonio for the final months of the World War II, then enrolled at Texas A&M College and earned a degree in Animal Husbandry in 1949.
He married Hazel Alene Stein in 1951 and together they raised two sons while traveling across Texas. They returned to San Angelo in the mid-1960s where he began a career in truck sales. Then moving again to Houston, El Paso, San Antonio, and Fredericksburg, he served for several years as regional manager for General Motors and retired in 2000 as sales manager for San Antonio Trucks. Marshall was a carpenter at heart, like his grandfather, and created many beautiful furniture pieces that will be family heirlooms.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel, his sons and their wives, Steve and Therran of San Angelo and Jeff and Judy of Leland, Mississippi; 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Dan Johnson (wife Brittany) of Lufkin, Ellen Lamb (husband Steven) of Richardson, Jessica Box (husband Chad) of San Angelo, and Brady Johnson (wife Danika) of Wall; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Geraldine Johnson Nord and seven nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Shaffer Funeral Home's Sherwood Way Chapel. Internment will be in Belvedere Memorial Park in San Angelo. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.
