My story and my thanks to Ted will be short. Ted was my english teacher three years running (though it may have only been two). Though I may not have appreciated him as much at the time as I should have, I do now. Remarkably to this day I use some of his sharp tongued barbs when addressing my friends or colleagues in a playful way. "You plebian twit", might have been a needling greeting from Mr Benton. Or he would implore upon us that "this is not your pew", when caught with our feet upon a classroom desk.
My education wasn't particularly lengthy, having dropped out of Winchester High School after the tenth grade. I'd like to think that Mr Benton wouldn't have judged this, rather he would question what I was to go on to do. I am no writer, as my employment is in the medical field. I am however a recreational writer for outdoor recreational publications. I also get great pleasure from crafting letters, proposals, and whatnot through my work. Much can be accomplished through a well worded and grammatically correct presentation. I'd like to say thank you to Mr Benton for sharing his knowledge and sense of humor with me.
