The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Halbert Weidner can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Hal's Good News

It was Christmas night in 1982, in Rock Hill South Carolina. I remember Hal’s sermon 36 years later as follows, totally confident of the theme and tone, less of the exact words: “The Good News came first to the shepherds, outcasts from their society. So, if you feel on the edge of society, if you only come here to church once a year and wonder if you belong, if you feel yourself to be an outcast from society or the Church – then remember one thing. Tonight is your night. You are welcome. You belong here. This Good News is for you.”
