My heart goes out to the family and friends of Mr. Swinnerton. He was a very special person who dedicated his life to family and community. I was blessed to have worked at Schuyler Hospital when he was our "boss". In most instances, the CEO of the hospital may not even know your name. Mr. Swinnerton took an interest in his employees, offering support in our often difficult jobs, taking the time to share a joke, and keeping his door open to discuss problems. I suspect that his wife and daughter, both nurses, trained him well... The thing is, he listened and took those lessons to heart. I worked for nearly 50 years as a nurse and I can say that I have been honored to have had the opportunity to work for and WITH Mr. Swinnerton. He put up with a lot from us in Stork's Landing. We teased him and he took it with grace and humor. I used to often tease him in the hospital newsletter in the Joke du Jour. When the blizzard of 1993 hit in March, I needed help getting to the hospital. I met him at Wickham's store in downtown Hector and he took me to the hospital. We left around high noon on Saturday and on Monday morning after the storm was over, he stopped by OB to see if I needed a ride home! That's the kind man he was. We have all been blessed and honored to have had Mr. Swinnerton walk among us. I send my deepest condolences to his family and thank them for sharing him with us. Know that a friend in Omak, Washington is thinking of you and praying for you.
