Andrew Greenlaw
I had the honor of making Deane's acquaintance only a short time ago. She began attending a class here in Maine and I was able to work closely with her as she become more familiar with the coursework. As I got to know her, I can honestly say she was one of the most genuine, sincere, playful, hardworking, and intelligent people I've ever met. She brought an air of openness that created instant fellowship among her peers. Funny, inquisitive, quick to laugh, she was a joy to be around. I will always remember how she had a wonderful mix of seriousness and friendly sarcasm that helped her become one of us at once. She made an indelible impression on me and every life she touched. Trying to make sense of this pointless tragedy is beyond me. The only thing that begins to unravel this loss for me is the reminder that sometimes God sends someone down who is simply too good for us here on Earth and they may need to be called home early. My deepest condolences to her family and friends. I can't imagine your pain. Please take the strength offered by your community and take care of yourselves the best you can.
