Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Susan Rice-Waller can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Susan B. Rice-Waller

Susan B.  Rice-Waller
The Reverend Susan B. Rice-Waller, 58, passed away peacefully at her home in Naples, FL, on April 21st, 2018. She was surrounded by family.

Susan was born and raised in Ellerbe, NC. She received a BA from Appalachian State University and an MA from Eastern Carolina University which prepared Susan for her work as an educator. Later, she received a Master of Divinity from Erskine Theological Seminary and was ordained as a Minister of the Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church. She served several churches in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Most recently, she enjoyed her role as Director of Development at Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties.

Susan is survived by her husband, Bob Waller of Naples. Susan is also survived by her children Andrew Rice, Ryan Waller and his wife Caroline, Scott Waller and his partner Brian Sanderson, Megan Waller, sister-in-law Nancy Waller and her husband Jim Newton, and Maggie . Additionally, she is survived by two brothers, Jimmy Bennet and his wife Deborah, and Dan Bennet and his wife Eleisa, sister-in-law Cindy Bennett, Ann and Mike Hardeman as well as several nieces and nephews. Susan was predeceased by her brother Tim Bennet.

A memorial service will be held at Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church, 1225 Piper Blvd, Naples, FL 34110. The service will be on May 5th at 1:00 PM with Rev. Tom Harp presiding.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you continue Susan’s passion by annually contributing every April to build a home in Susan’s memory. With your donation please note: Rev. Susan B. Rice-Waller Project in the comment line.
