Obituary for Gladys M. Lupo

Gladys M.  Lupo
Gladys M. Lupo, 84, of Naples, FL, formerly of Orange, CT, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Lupo, daughter of the late John and Alice Mahakian, and sister of the late Virginia Sanford. Adored by her family, she is survived by her son, Paul Lupo of Derby, her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Nick Bencivengo of Orange, and her cherished grandchildren, Maggie Lupo Tebo (Chris), Paul Lupo, Noelle Bencivengo, and Nicholas Bencivengo, Jr.
Raised in West Haven, CT, Gladys worked as an administrative assistant at United Illuminating for a number of years before starting a family. She earned bachelor degrees in both economics and history, and a Master of Education. She went on to greatly enjoy her career as a business teacher in the Milford Public Schools for nearly 20 years. In 1988, she was recognized as the State of Connecticut’s Business Educator of the Year.
Gladys was an avid reader, mah jongg player, and golfer. She was active in golf leagues at several local courses, including Orange Hills and Grassy Hill Country Clubs, as well as her home course, Royal Wood Golf and Country Club in Naples, FL. She was blessed with wonderful friends in CT and FL, and a truly loving family. She treasured every moment with them, as they did with her.
Visitation will take place on WEDNESDAY from 4 to 7 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green. Funeral services will be held on THURSDAY June 7 at 10 am at the Orange Congregational Church. Interment will follow in Orange Center Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS.org).
