The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Charlene Knight can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

My friend Charlene

My friend Charlene and I met as freshmen at Interlakes High School in Meredith and became lifelong acquaintances.  Finishing high school in 1962, we both attended Plymouth State.  Charlene majored in English.  After graduation in 1966, we started our teaching careers, Charlene teaching in North Stratford for several years.  Charlene then spent many years working at Shep Brown’s Marina and then Trexlor’s Marina.

Eventually, Charlene joined her brother Ricky working at the Red Hill Inn in Center Harbor.  She met Peter Knight and they were married at the Inn.  Pete died in 2013.

Charlene had many different jobs during her lifetime and was not afraid to master each.  She was a very independent homeowner, not afraid to get her hands dirty using her odd collection of equipment.

Along with her two great loves, Kip and Pete, Charlene always had her dogs and cats to keep her company.  She loved to travel and camp, Maine being a favorite destination.  She avidly followed interests on the internet.

Charlene was remarkable in her love and caring for needs of her brother Ricky, her mother, and husband Pete for the last 25 years.

My last conversation with Charlene in April was our usual, but she related how she had not been feeling well for the past year.  I will miss her.

Condolences to her cousins.
