(the website here is not leaving a space between paragraphs, or even an indentation) Dear Ones, For my Holiday Message this year I would like to share a personal story. When my parents lived at Avalon Commons apartments in Long Island there were two cardinals, male and female, indeed they were a couple, who lived in the nearby trees and used to often fly down to the little patio, and my Mum and I loved to watch them and often put seeds out for them, especially in the winter with snow on the ground. This was mostly after my Dad had passed to Heaven in September 2012 and I would take turns with my brothers to go out there on a regular basis, to take care of my mother. My Mum (in England people say mum not mom and we always called our mother, Mum, and I like it better). Anyway, Mum and I both love birds, Dad does too, and Mum especially loves hummingbirds and cardinals, and of course our beloved African Grey parrot Bobbi. When she was a girl in England, her father, who was a professional photographer, used to breed budgies (budgerigars, which are a type of parakeet from Australia), and she always liked to tell how he once bred one that was a light pink color. And we used to have budgies or parakeets as pets. As most of you know my mother passed to Heaven in June of 2018. So now moving forward to August 8 of this year 2019, I was at my apartment in Sunnyside, Queens, in what had been my mother's bedroom when she lived with me. I was going through some of her clothing and linens, sorting some to donate to the Salvation Army, and a couple of my Dad's things to give to my brothers, when I heard a bird chirping. I turned and looked to the open window, which is on the fire escape, and there on one of the steps of the fire escape, so that it was within my view, was a Cardinal!! It chirped a couple of times and then flew away. I wish it had stayed longer. Now the bedrooms of my apartment face a beautiful large courtyard which had actually been a park before the buildings were built, and there are many huge trees, greenery, flowers, and also many birds that one can see and enjoy their songs, including mourning doves - **but I do not remember ever seeing a cardinal there, especially in August, and have not seen one since.** When I saw this precious little red cardinal, I was filled with much joy and gratitude, and I felt and knew it was a loving message from my Mum that she and Dad are ok and sending their love, and I think also saying that everything will be ok! And there is a saying "Cardinals appear when angels are near!" I even went and told Bobbi Bird what had happened, to which she said Wow! What a beautiful and comforting experience, a message through an angelic cardinal sweet birdie from our dear Angels Mum and Dad in Heaven.
