I have only gotten to know Buck over the last 6 months or so, as leader of his collection counting team at church. That's amazing in and of itself that at 90 years old he and Rita are still giving of themselves for the parish. Every word I heard at his memorial mass this morning fit very well for Buck, but the word that I think fits best is devoted. He was devoted to a life of service and everything important, his country, his family, his church, his volunteer firehall and The Bills and Yankees. Some might not consider those last couple important but, as a diehard sports fan myself, I admired him for his devoted fandom. I could always count on getting the Yankees score and recap from Saturday night as we waited for the 11:00 collection. My sincere condolences for your loss. As father said during the homily though, his spirit will live on in the way he touched us and how we emulate his life.
