The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Bruce Hargreaves can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

I was deeply saddened today to hear of the passing of a friend, Bruce Hargreaves. I met Bruce in 1976 in Buffalo Narrows,Sask. We were HBC employees,Bruce was the butcher,I was the groceteria mgr. We lived and worked side by side for almost a year. All our staff had a high respect for Bruce as a hard worker, but also as a friendly, personable, guy who was willing to help whenever needed and never complained. He would drive us down to Saskatoon and never asked for anything, even gas money,in return. He was also a talented cook and he trained as a chef before joining HBC. The following year,I was transferred to remote northern Manitoba and we lost contact with each other,as often happens in life. The following year,1977, I decided to get married, but found out at the last minute, one of my ushers was unable to attend my wedding. My first thought was to ask Bruce. He readily accepted, and was there for me when I needed him. That's the kind of person Bruce was. I feel honoured to have known him,and will remember Bruce forever.
