My Trip to Dauphin

Dear Red and family,

Please accept my deepest condolences regarding the passing of Paul. I will never forget the following story about Paul and Red while on my way to visit Gido Lukie in Dauphin.

After hours of delays and missed flights attempting to get to Dauphin, Paul picked me up in the middle of night from the airport in Brandon. He laughed at me frantically trying to get another flight or bus out in the morning and graciously offered to drive me to Dauphin himself. That night I was welcomed into Paul and Red's home with open arms. I remember apologizing over and over for keeping them up so late and insisting they shouldn't stay up on my account. Paul grinned, took my bags downstairs, made me a drink (followed quickly by another) and said "You know, even though we are older that doesn't mean we can't stay up late or hang out". We then proceeded to stay up for hours chatting and watching sports highlights. I am fairly certain I was the one who had to go to bed first and who had to be woken up the next morning. I am thankful for the time I got to spend with Paul and Red the night before leaving to Dauphin and the time I got to spend with Paul on the drive there (filled with endless jokes and stories). I thank you both and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
