Miss Gygax was one of my teachers in 4th grade at Colegio Bolivar in Cali. She taught Colombian geography and history. She would write information on the board that we would copy verbatim into our cuadernos- we just about wrote our own textbooks! The school bus I rode picked her up each morning which I thought was special. When she married Mr. Hunter in the Episcopal Church, my mother was on the altar guild and had to be there for the ceremony. She allowed me to sit on the stairs to the second floor and watch. Miss Gygax was more beautiful than ever that day, if that were possible! She made a huge impression on me, a 9 year old girl. I was able to go to the 50th anniversary of Bolivar 22 years ago and was thrilled to have the chance to visit with her a bit. She had maintained the same air of beauty, grace, and dignity in those 50 years and I imagine she entered into God's grace with the same attributes.
