Merla Snider Newton-age 56, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 28, 2011. Merla was born on January 7, 1955, the daughter of Morris and Lumina (Gareau) Snider, in Pembroke,Ontario, Canada. She had a BA in Nursing and was employed at Central Michigan Community Health. She is survived by her husband Craig, one son Daniel Morris Newton of Traverse City, one daughter, Kathryn Snider Newton of Traverse City, mother, Lumina Snider of Marysville, step-grandson Gabriel Reese, two sisters; Marlene Valdez and husband Robert of Port Huron, and Phyllis Grant of Sarnia, Canada, six nieces, two nephews, two great-nieces, and very dear friend Judy. Merla was a passionate reader, and dearly loved nature and animals. A service is scheduled for Sunday, July 31, 2011 at 4 PM at the Campbell-Stocking Family Funeral Home in Farwell. Pastor Don Crieglow of the Unity Church of Clare will officiate. Friends may visit from 2-4PM prior to the service. Memorial considerations can be made to the Clare County Animal Shelter.
