My deepest sympathies to John's family on their untimely loss. When I joined YORK as XO in 1980 John was one of the first officers to welcome me on board. And throughout my tour as XO and then CO he was always extremely supportive. He could be counted on to tackle any assignment given him with enthusiasm and professionalism. Most of all he was a great mess mate and a friend. He will be missed. Commodore Bob Baugniet
