Carolyn and I are so very sorry for your loss. Mavis was a good engineer and a kind and caring person. He was a great conservationist who was instrumental in leading Oklahoma and the nation in the USDA watershed program. One of Mavis's legacies is how he “made a difference” in the life of many Oklahomans by working as a SCS construction engineer throughout his entire career constructing flood control dams across the state. During his career more than 1,650 of the 2,100 flood control dams in Oklahoma were constructed. Mavis was involved in a lot of them. These dams will protect communities for generations to come.
