Memor of My Friend

In the 41 years that John Crossley was my friend, we went through many highs and lows together; but by far, the highs outweighed the lows. He was a kind, generous and thoughtful soul as well as being a brilliant and truly Renaissance man. Nothing was too hard for him to do for his friends and, in fact, for people that he did not even know. However, John was truly a "lost soul." He was torn between what he knew was "right" and the way he sometimes lived. Yet the fact that he had this sense of conscience and deep rooted belief in God and God's goodness never deserted him, even in his darkest times. I am truly saddened by his passing; but, in truth, I view it as a blessing for John. He had lost his way and it was doubtful that he would ever have gone back to the person he was and longed to be again. None of this detracts from the love that I had for him and for what he meant to me as a person and friend. I shared countless hours, on countless trips, in remote places with a man that I shall always remember as one of my dearest friends. May God welcome John to the place where he truly belongs and may he at last find the peace that he earned with so much sacrifice. I truly pray that he will be remembered as he was in these pictures, a man of morals, integrity, joy and love. A man who had friends throughout the world, but more so a man who touched the hearts and souls of so many.
