The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Dr. Martin Vanacour can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Deana Wilson and Sue Rutt

Marty was such an amazing man. He was more than a City Manager, he treated everyone as equals, he treated his colleagues as friends / family. He had such a big, soft, heart. Stan Van de Putte would have been so proud of him for following the same path that Stan took with employees. It was a very sad day and the beginning of a very different era when Marty left the City of Glendale. We considered Marty to be a very good friend to us and dearly loved him and Joyce and the family. We are so sorry to hear of his passing and will miss him. It's too bad we let our lives and time drift away from us, really wish we could have told him this in person but I'm sure he knows how we felt about him!!!! Still remember him showing up after he bought his red corvette (as he lovingly called it the kidney buster) at our house, I (Deana) somehow got stuck in the hatchback and Sue up front. I couldn't see the speedometer but I had feeling we weren't exactly doing 25mph. We also got to enjoy some country dancing with Marty and Joyce and trivial pursuit games at their house. (Nobody beat Marty) and not because we didn't want to, that man was brilliant. Our deepest Condolences to Joyce, Barbie and Jason! Love you all, Deana and Sue
